Lower Gwynedd, was settled by the Quakers in the late 1600’s and is a township in Montgomery with a population of approximately 11,400. The Parks & Recreation department of Lower Gwynedd is currently in charge of four parks and over eight trails, including the 77-acre Penllyn Woods which has community-building, public areas for various types of sporting events, and walking trails, a boardwalk and pond, and two picnic pavilions. Lower Gwynedd also hosts a variety of community events including the highly anticipated Countrie Picnic that is held once a year.
Those looking for an excellent meal will enjoy Lower Gwynedd’s Bocelli Restaurant, or delicious fare from one of the area restaurants emphasized at the “I Like the Pike Nights,” such as The Spring House Tavern, Ristorante San Marco, or A Taste of Italy, all of which offer special prices during the free summer nights concert series held at Oxford Park.
The US Sports Institute provides year-round camping and recreation for youth. With the 2012 Junior Tournament Team District 22 Championship in little league, 14 soccer camps for children of various ages, and year-round camping and recreational opportunities for the youth that are hosted by USA Sport Group, Lower Gwynedd is a great family-oriented township to call home.
